April 23rd, 2025 // Vol. XII // Duck The Fodgers

An extremely deep-seated Buenas Tardes today. Did I sleep through all of my alarms? I'll never tell. Anyways, from overcast Chicago (and yes, I’m actually in Chicago), Happy:

  • National Talk Like Shakespeare Day (hmm, maybe I should write this entire newsletter in Iambic Pentameter. That would definitely go over well)

  • National Cherry Cheesecake Day (why does this need a day exactly? I’ve never heard anyone say this is their favorite dessert.)

  • National Picnic Day (not in drizzly Chicago it ain’t)

  • National Lost Dog Awareness Day (awwww. This made me sad).

As a reminder, there will be no sports news today (although I really, really, really want to talk about the greatest Cubs game I’ve ever been to. I’m going again tonight, so maybe I’ll do a little series review). I’m already behind though, so let’s have a day:

LETTER FROM THE EDITOR

One day I’ll bite the bullet and start prewriting these as much as I can so that they actually come out in the morning. Today is not that day.

As always, email me with any column requests or content ideas. Now, it’s a great day to have a day. Drink plenty of water. Go outside. And remember: the greatest gift of life is simply being alive. Make the most of it.

Hasta mañana.
