July 16th, 2025 // Vol. XL // The Big 40

Howdy. It didn’t rain in Houston yesterday, so I was wrong. That does mean that it will probably pour today, though. Happy:

• National AI Day (Booooooooooooooo. I fully reject national AI day. A powerful tool, yes, but I think it has the potential to do far more harm than good. I’ve been meaning to go on a longer tirade, but for now, fade AI. Use your brain.)

• National Personal Chef Day (This seems way too niche to get a day.)

• National Hot Dog Day (wasn’t this like two weeks ago? Celebrated with lots of fireworks and flags and stuff?)

Well, we made it to 40. Took a little while, but nevertheless, 40. Unfortunately, I have to issue my first major correction on this momentous occasion: Uno is not coming to Las Vegas casinos. Terrible, I know. If you can muster up the strength after that terrible news, let’s still try and have a day:

Gummy Worms or Gummy Bears?

Gummy Worms took it home with 86% of the vote, which seems about right. When given the choice, I will always go with gummy worm. As for the real correct answer, I appreciate the Sour Patch Watermelon and edibles shoutouts, but the best gummy candy is Nerds Gummy Clusters. Just cannot be beat.
