June 18th, 2025 // Vol. XXXII // I'm Still Standing

Salutations. It’s been a while, but I did forewarn you. Last time we checked in, I was a college senior taking no classes and maximizing the last few weeks in paradise. Now, I’m just unemployed. Happy:

  • National Wanna Get Away Day (darn, I’m missing the celebration by a day)

  • National Splurge Day (I did just get some cash for grad… kidding, kidding)

  • National Go Fishing Day (last time I went fishing I caught a shark, and I’m not sure if I’ll ever catch that high again)

I’m about to embark for Europe, where wifi will be spotty, timezones will be confusing, and free time will be limited. Despite that, I’ll try my best to get a volume or two out. Real ones remember that my first foray into blogging occurred the last time I went to Europe (nearly 12 years ago), so it only feels right to deliver some sort of sequel. Regardless of what the next few weeks hold, we’re here now, so let’s have a day:

Today, I’m tossing y’all two well-structured and thought-out opinions on the same issue: U.S. involvement in Iran. Whether America will join its Israeli allies in their attacks on the Islamist regime is the hot-button topic de jour, and no one seems to know which way the cards will fall. The New York Times went as far as to release a breaking news alert that simply said “Trump says U.S. ‘may’ or ‘may not’ join Israel’s strikes against Iran.” Wow. Very helpful.

This is an extraordinarily complex issue, hence why the admin is spending so much time mulling it over. I hope these arguments help you understand the many perspectives and considerations that factor in to this decision. I don’t want to prop either one as ‘correct’; to do so would be to ignore the nuance of the situation. Simply view them as resources to help you form your own conclusions on the matter, as well as logical insight as to what could happen on either path.

I encourage y’all to read both of those pieces in full, because my short summaries don’t quite paint the full picture. They are strong foils to each other, giving us as readers a lot to consider.

What’s the weather where you are right now?

LETTER FROM THE EDITOR

Good to get back to y’all. Will see if I’m able to disseminate any news/content while abroad, but if I do, it might not look like what you’re used to, i.e. I’m not going to be reading much news to be honest.

As always, email me with any column requests or content ideas. Now, it’s a great day to have a day. Drink plenty of water. Go outside. And remember: the greatest gift of life is simply being alive. Make the most of it.

Hasta mañana.
